Wagamama

Wagamama has become a favourite place to eat out for vegans. In October 2021, they announced their menu would be 50% plant-based. From curries to stir fries, there is something for all Asian food lovers here. So, we recommend it highly!

Serving food inspired by Japan, this chain is becoming more and more popular. Since opening in 1992, the restaurant has become a staple of the British high street. Read on to find out all the treats you will find at the chain.

Edamame with chilli garlic salt

Yasai gyoza vegetable

Bang bang cauliflower – crispy cauliflower in a spicy sauce

Wok-fried greens – tenderstem broccoli and bok choi with garlic and soy sauce

Sticky vegan ‘ribs’ – mushroom + soya protein ‘ribs’ in a sweet and spicy sticky sauce.

Spicy teriyaki vegan ‘chicken’ buns – two bao buns filled with vegan chicken, slaw, fried shallots and spicy teriyaki sauce.

Mixed mushroom buns – two bao buns filled with panko aubergine and mixed mushrooms.

Vegan chilli ‘squid’ – lightly battered pulled king oyster mushrooms served with a sticky dipping sauce.

Sticky miso corn – corn on the cob in a sticky miso sauce with fresh red chillies

Tempeh ssampab – tempeh in baby gem lettuce wraps, pickled asian slaw and a spicy kimchi sauce.

Rice Dishes

Vegatsu – tofu and soya protein in crispy breadcrumbs, served with a katsu curry sauce, sticky white rice, side salad and pickled red onion

Hot Vegatsu – as above but spicy!

Shu’s shiok jackfruit – turmeric and ginger marinated roasted jackfruit, served on a bed of coconut and lemongrass rice. Served with pickled slaw, radish, chilli, coriander and caramelised lime

Tofu raisukaree – Tofu, coconut, mangetout, peppers, red and spring onion, sesame seeds, chilli, coriander, fresh lime and white rice

Tofu firecracker – Tofu, mangetout, red and green peppers, onion, hot red chillies, sesame seeds, shichimi, fresh lime and white rice

Yasai katsu curry – vegetables in crispy panko breadcrumbs served with katsu sauce, sticky white rice, side salad and Japanese pickles

Hot yasai katsu curry – as above but spicy!

No duck donburi – shredded seitan and shiitake mushrooms in a hoisin sauce. Served with edamame beans, kimchee, coconut and sriracha vegan ‘egg’ and brown rice.

Tempeh katsu salad – crispy panko breadcrumbed tempeh served with dressed mixed leaves, apple slices, cucumber, edamame beans, pickled asian slaw, Japanese pickles and a side of curried salad dressing

Noodle Dishes

Yasai gyoza | vegetable – yasai gyoza surved with udon noodles in a vegetable broth. With roasted bok choi, chilli sambal paste, spring onion, coriander, chilli oil and a side of gyoza sauce.

Teriyaki vegan ‘chicken’ ramen – vegan chicken in a spicy teriyaki sauce served with udon noodles, sweetcorn, bok choi, chilli sambal paste, spring onion, chilli, coriander and chilli oil. In a vegetable broth.

Kare burosu ramen – silken tofu, grilled mixed mushrooms, seasonal greens and udon noodles in a broth.

Yasai pad thai – rice noodles mixed with tofu, beansprouts, leeks, chilli, red + spring onion, amai sauce, fried onions, mint, coriander and fresh lime.

Yasai yaki soba with udon noodles – udon noodles mixed with peppers, beansprouts, white + spring onion, fried shallots, pickled ginger and sesame seeds.

Yasai yaki soba with rice noodles – rice noodles mixed with peppers, beansprouts, white + spring onion, fried shallots, pickled ginger and sesame seeds.
