The vast majority of vegans were not born vegan (although an increasing number now are), and have therefore consumed animal products at some point in their lives. Typically this was due to custom, habit, social pressure and taste. In fact, it is rather rare to meet a vegan who stopped eating animal products just because they didn’t like the taste. If this was the case there wouldn’t be a whole array of vegan meats, milks, yogurts, ice creams and other products available!
Most vegans can no longer justify the unnecessary suffering imposed on animals, the environmental damage, and/or the risks to their health, purely for the sake of a momentary taste experience. What’s more, with an ever-increasing number of delicious alternatives there really is no need.
