Bimini Bon Boulash: 5 Best Vegan Moments

Team Veganuary are huge RuPaul’s Drag Race aficionados, so we’re thrilled that a proud vegan Queen – Bimini Bon Boulash – has reached the final of Drag Race UK.

With a warm, non-judgemental outlook, gymnastic dance moves and a cracking sense of humour, Bimini is the vegan we aspire to be. To celebrate East London’s plant-based princess, we’re sharing five of our favourite Bimini Bon Boulash vegan moments.

1. That entrance

Drag Race fans know how important the Werk Room entrance is. The Queens arriving on the set kicks off the season so it’s essential for their introductions to be memorable. It’s fair to say Bimini was exactly that.

In Episode 1, Bimini strutted into the Werk Room and declared ‘I’m vegan. Ha ha!’ It’s how we plan to arrive at every party once lockdown is over.

2. ‘My lentils tender’

Every season of Drag Race comes with a musical performance challenge, but few of them actually reach the charts! In this task, Bimini formed a pop group with fellow contestants called the United Kingdolls. One of the stand-out moments of the series was their iconic performance of the song ‘UK Hun?’ in the RuRuvision Song Contest.

Bimini’s verse and accompanying gymnastic moves were unforgettable, witty and tongue-in-cheek. They gave a nod to veganism when singing:

‘Gender bender, cis-tem offender,

I like it rough but my lentils tender.’

3. Meet Bimini

Even before the series started, we had a chance to meet Bimini who joked that they ‘invented veganism about seven years ago…’ and added: ‘My nails are great, my teeth are great, my hair’s great.’

It was a clear statement that veganism was an important part of Bimini’s drag and we love to see it.

4. ‘Can I have the vegan option, please?’

As the Queens prepared for the pre-her-storic runway, Ellie Diamond, Lawrence Chaney and Tayce each joked about ordering a gay man. Bimini chimed in with ‘Can I have the vegan option, please?’ It was this quick wit – along with a killer impersonation of Katie Price – that made Bimini victorious in the notoriously difficult Snatch Game challenge.

5. The world’s first vegan puppet?

Even when Bimini was a puppet voiced by Tayce, they were still a loud and proud vegan. Tayce asked, ‘What are some of your favourite things?’ Puppet-Bimini replied, ‘I love Katie Price, dismantling the patriarchy, and veganism!’ It was a brilliant summary of one of the most iconic Queens in Drag Race herstory and proves that as vegans we don’t have to take ourselves too seriously!

We love all the finalists, but Team Veganuary is definitely #TeamBimini!
