Vegans rejoice, high street supermarket giant ASDA is launching a vegan cheese board and other plant-based dishes – just in time for Christmas!
The cheese board is the latest in a long line of vegan own-brand products which the supermarket has launched in recent years, and will certainly make it even easier for those following a vegan diet to enjoy plant-based alternatives to traditional Christmas foods.
ASDA’s exciting range will be available from 22 November, and priced at an affordable £5, it includes:
- Wensleydale and Cranberry Alternative. A creamy style ‘cheese’ combined with sweet cranberries. We reckon it will sit alongside mulled wine and mince pies as a real taste of Christmas!
- Garlic and Chive Mature Cheddar Alternative. This savoury offering is sure to be delicious spread on crackers with a generous dollop of chutney – or for nibbling straight from the fridge as a late-night Christmas snack!
- Traditional Mature Cheddar Alternative. A full-bodied, smooth and authentic tasting substitute for dairy-based cheeses. Sounds delicious!
Alongside the cheese board, ASDA’s new festive vegan range will also feature something for every course at Christmas Dinner. For starters, there’ll be a vegan pâté, while a flavoursome chestnut roast makes an ideal easy-serve main course. Decadent vegan chocolate caramel pots have been created as the perfect pudding, leaving just enough room for the cheese board for afters.
Last year the budget supermarket became the first to launch Vegan Society certified mince pies, which we hope to see return to store in 2018.
We can’t wait to get our hands on ASDA’s new range, but in the meantime, if this has got you thinking about Christmas (yes, we know it’s only August!), visit our festive recipe section here.
