Millennials Go Cold Turkey On Turkey

Research by Meatless Farm Co showed that 18-34 year olds were twice as likely to reduce their meat consumption over the holidays as the trend for plant-based meals continues to grow.

The festive season is synonymous with turkey, pigs in blankets and a host of other meaty ‘treats’, but last holiday season, over 20% of people said they were open to reducing the amount of meat on their plate, according to research conducted by Meatless Farm Co.  This reflects the shift in the way people eat meat with more of us turning to a flexitarian diet.

Over 50% of those considering a meat-free Christmas were doing so because of their friends’ or family’s diets. Women were leading the change with 39% of them describing themselves as flexitarians.

Morten Toft Bech, founder of British start-up, The Meatless Farm Co, said: “Vegan diets are currently very topical, however for many people it isn’t about going cold turkey. It’s about finding a balance that is healthy, tasty and good for the planet. If people switched just one meal a week to meatless they could make a big difference. But there must be tasty, familiar alternatives.”

The Meatless Farm Co’s fresh plant-based mince means the UK’s 22 million flexitarians can create their favourite traditional meals without missing out on taste or texture. And without having to reach for the freezer.

A healthy alternative to meat, the fresh mince is made with plant-based ingredients; from pea protein to chicory root and seasoned with a special blend of herbs and spices. Also, just like meat, the fresh products are a high source of protein and good source of fibre, whilst also being gluten free and vegan.

Toft Bech added: “Our chefs and team of taste experts have spent the past two years down on the meatless farm developing a recipe that is delicious, healthy and perfect for making family favourites.”
