I am a dreamer, a philanthropist and a person who believes they can make a difference in the world.
As the eldest daughter of the Fry Family – of which there are three generations of vegetarians – makers of plant-based protein foods, I am a passionate advocate for plant-based nutrition and cruelty-free foods.
My over a decade experience at the helm of product marketing at Fry’s and Director of Meat Free Mondays SA and AUS is guided by nutritional expertise, a love of fitness, love of the environment and outdoor lifestyle. Enabling others to live a happier and more energetic lifestyle through plant-based nutrition is the cornerstone of my passion.
A nutritionist, athlete, self-defence coach, businesswomen, public speaker, animal rights advocate, photographer, and mom of 2, I believe I embody the term #poweredbyplants and hope to inspire others to do the same.
I have always been a fan of smoothies.
My passion for smoothie making began when I was 16 years old, training 3 hours a day and representing my country in karate, whilst planning the opening of my own karate school and trying to pass my final school year (yikes!).
I lost a whole lot of weight whilst my body fought to keep up with the demands of my lifestyle.
This week has been one of those weeks.
Late nights, early mornings and lots of middle-of-the-night interruptions from the kids.
I decided I need a cold, quick-to-make energy shot which I could just gulp down to get me through the moments when I felt I had been hit by a truck.
As they say, sharing is caring, so for all those time starved and sometimes exhausted mums and dads out there, here goes.
Chia is an incredibly nutritious seed and is probably going to make its way into most of my recipes!
This tiny seed certainly packs a punch. And even better, it is usually organic and sustainable!
I call this a pudding, but feel free to eat for breakfast, snack or after dinner treat.
Another Soup for the Soup Lovers!
It's no secret, I am a fan of soup.
And, the funny thing is, my kids love it too. Even my little man (who isn't the biggest fan of vegetables), loves any soup I put in front of him, as long as it is smooth!
There really isn’t too much to a good soup – and that’s the beauty of it. You don’t need to be a rock-star in the kitchen to get it right. And, it is power packed with nutrients.
Another one of my protein-packed salads (blush).
So after 3 weeks in South Africa eating on-the-go and eating out combined with a lack of hard training (other than burpees in my room!), I feel a little more “padded” than I did 3 weeks ago.
So, its back to lots of raw wholefoods and, of course, salads fit the bill, combined with hard training (to every O30 year old out there, I am sure you can sympathise!)
These are Vegan Brownies but just as good, if not better, than any brownie I have ever tasted.
Thought I would make them for Father’s Day, seeing that a celebration is always a good time to break the sugar fast!
Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there!
Summer is on its way, and the pressure to don the bikini is mounting!
This is the start of a few summer recipes that will help you on your way to feeling great.
Remember its not how you look that’s important, its how you feel.
When you eat deliciously fresh plant based food, you always feel better!
