Explore dairy alternatives <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s an exciting time to move on from dairy, as new vegan products are hitting the shelves every week. From plant-based milk for your tea to decadent desserts, you\u2019re bound to find replacements for your go-to products. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trying alternatives to your favourite foods will involve trial and error and there will inevitably be products you like more than others. Not all dairy-free options are created equal! Keep an open mind and you\u2019ll be surprised at the range of options out there. Before you know it, you won\u2019t even miss the things you swore you couldn\u2019t live without \u2013 even cheese! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also experiment in the kitchen by<a href=\"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/en-in\/how-to-veganize-your-favourite-indian-dishes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> veganizing the dishes you love<\/a>. With a few simple swaps, you can wave goodbye to dairy forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> 2. Replace what you won\u2019t miss first <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We advise hardcore cheese connoisseurs not to try dairy-free cheese right away. Instead, think of the dairy products you\u2019ll find it easy to swap out and start with those.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vegan alternatives to everyday items like yoghurt, margarine and ice cream taste so similar that you wouldn\u2019t even notice the difference. Start replacing one or two things at a time and allowing your tastebuds to adjust. Check food labels <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Reading labels in supermarkets can feel like a chore, but sometimes dairy can lurk in unlikely products! It can also appear under different names, so look out for lactose, whey and casein. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Often supermarkets have clear \u201cfree from\u201d labels and many products include the Vegan Society trademark. Plus, there&#8217;s a huge variety of <a href=\"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/en-in\/accidentally-vegan-products\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accidentally vegan products<\/a> that you didn&#8217;t even know were plant-based! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Pay attention to your nutrition <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dairy is a common source of many important vitamins and minerals, including <a href=\"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/calcium-from-dairy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">calcium<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/vitamin-d-vegan-diet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vitamin D<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/vitamin-b12-vegan-diet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">B12<\/a>. However, it\u2019s perfectly possible to obtain these without dairy. When cutting out dairy, make sure you replace the nutrients with adequate alternatives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some plant-based foods and milks are fortified with certain vitamins and minerals, so check the packaging. There are also many widely available multivitamins and supplements to choose from. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Be prepared <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019re on the journey to going dairy-free, plan ahead wherever possible to make the transition easier. Going out for lunch? Look up plant-based options in restaurants and cafes beforehand. Need some meal inspiration? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try new <a href=\"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/en-in\/recipes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vegan recipes<\/a> and recreate some of your favourite dishes. Prone to late night snacking? Ask for help <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Making any lifestyle change can be difficult if you\u2019re doing it on your own. Why not enlist the help of a friend or family member or go dairy-free with your partner? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s also a huge online vegan community, so use social media for tips and support or even join a local vegan group! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Don\u2019t be hard on yourself! <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s face it: for most of us, changing lifelong habits isn\u2019t going to happen overnight. You may accidentally eat something containing dairy and you\u2019ll probably crave your favourite cheese at some point. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accept that mistakes happen and don\u2019t judge yourself too harshly.
