There has been a plethora of articles about how damaging animal products are for the environment recently. This powerful article in The Conversation lists five ways the meat on your plate is killing the planet, while this in The Independent is one person’s reasons for reducing her meat consumption. An article in Female First puts the environment top of the list of ten great reasons to ditch meat, and The Guardian suggested that a tax on meat would help us save the planet. This message is being aired across the world. This Washington news site is saying the same thing.

- Vegans Love to Run!
OK, not all of us, but a lot of us. If running is your thing, check out this article in Runners World, which gives great advice for spring cleaning your vegan diet. It’s all sensible stuff – put the Oreos down, eat green veg at every meal, limit your sugar intake and cut back on processed foods. Will it make you run faster? It’s got to be worth a go.

If you need a little inspiration to get you off the couch and into Lycra, check out the extraordinary effort by vegan Stuart Repon-Ness, who is running 1,500 miles up the west coast of America, from San Diego to Seattle. He’ll be running a marathon a day for 50 days. Extraordinary.

– In Australia, check out the new SeraBar in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Start the day with avo smash or the super duper big brekkie with tofu bacon. For lunch, try the skewers and salads before loading up at dinner with nachos, tacos or pizza.
– If you’re in the land down under, you’ll find Over the Moo ice cream stocked all over the country but head to Prince Alfred Park in Sydney for the country’s first totally vegan ice cream van.
– In Portland, USA, where there seems to be no end of vegan options, a brand new vegan donut shop has just opened. Doe Donuts sold 1,000 donuts in its first four hours of opening. There are the classics, of course, and then there is the mint chip waffle cone and the thai tea fritter.
– If you are in or visiting the Caribbean soon, get yourself over to St Kitts and visit Ital Creations. What’s on the menu changes each day but you may find burgers, wraps and patties, and you’ll get to eat mini mangos in the shade of a mango tree.
– No less romantic is the brand new vegan cocktail bar and restaurant in the historic lanes of Norwich, UK. The Tipsy Vegan opens next month. They promise never to offer mushroom risotto or ratatouille but only the most exceptional classic dishes alongside bespoke cocktails.
– And if you want a whole country to choose from, the advice is to head over to Germany, which launched more vegan products last year than anywhere else in the world. The US came next, and the UK third. Read more here.
