{"id":233443,"date":"2024-01-26T21:29:34","date_gmt":"2024-01-26T21:29:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/?p=233443"},"modified":"2025-09-30T11:12:52","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T10:12:52","slug":"stanford-health-new-seasons-market-and-more-take-veganuary-workplace-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/en-us\/stanford-health-new-seasons-market-and-more-take-veganuary-workplace-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Stanford Health, New Seasons Market, and More Take Veganuary Workplace Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Hundreds of organizations and companies worldwide are taking on the challenge to eat vegan for the month of January<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(United States \u2013 January 25, 2024) \u2013 <\/strong>Veganuary \u2013 the global movement to try vegan for 31 days \u2013 is working with a record number of companies around the world to help them be more sustainable, healthier, and more inclusive by encouraging their employees to sign up for Veganuary.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More prominent US companies and institutions participating in Veganuary are EY (Ernst &amp; Young), City of San Antonio, Stanford Health Care, the Association of Oregon Recyclers, New Seasons Market, and more. In the UK, hundreds of companies took part this January, including Salesforce, Docusign; five NHS Trusts and NHS Supply Chain; among many others. <br><br>By taking on the Veganuary Workplace Challenge, these employers are taking positive steps towards sustainability and CSR goals, creating a fun challenge for employees to participate in, and promoting health and wellbeing amongst staff, while providing more plant-based options in the workplace in January.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As organizations are increasingly prioritizing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices and striving to lower their carbon emissions, the Veganuary workplace challenge offers a fun way to make a positive impact on everyone involved. In their own words, here are some of the reasons these businesses and institutions are embracing vegan eating this January:<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong> &nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>City of San Antonio<\/strong>\u00a0<br><em>Tamarra Callahan, Management Analyst, Office of Sustainability<\/em>\u00a0<br>\u201cThe City of San Antonio\u2019s Office of Sustainability and Human Resources departments are celebrating Veganuary to highlight the environmental and health benefits of plant-based eating to our employees. We recruited more than 200 Workplace Challenge participants at our Veganuary kick-off event where we handed out 150 vegan bean and cheese tacos and 100 bananas. <br><br>\u201cWe have also shared information about local, vegan-friendly restaurants and an opportunity to attend a webinar about plant-based eating with over 13,000 City employees. We will soon launch a monthly fruit and vegetable market box program and host a Veganuary potluck to encourage plant-based eating all year long! The Veganuary Workplace Challenge has been an engaging, insightful, thought-provoking experience for our staff and I\u2019m excited to review the positive impact numbers and lifestyle changes motivated by our City\u2019s participation in the challenge.\u201d \u00a0<br>\u00a0<br><strong>Higher Taste<\/strong>\u00a0<br><em>Rhonda Wrobel, Co-Owner \/ Founder<\/em>\u00a0<br>\u201cAs a natural food manufacturer, Veganuary Workplace Challenge is ideal for Higher Taste to participate in. Our department is excited to participate in this challenge as we are able to make an impact through the food we eat. Our aim is to empower and advocate for more environmental sustainability by opting for healthy, compassionate, and plant-forward foods.&#8221;\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br><strong>Clever Carbon<\/strong>\u00a0<br><em>Michelle Li, Founder and CEO <\/em>\u00a0<br>&#8220;Clever Carbon is excited to participate in the Veganuary Workplace Challenge because, much like our approach to carbon literacy, leveraging corporations to empower individuals to be conscious consumers is a great way to scale climate action. It&#8217;s about making informed choices and understanding the impact; the average vegetarian meal is 600 g of CO2 emissions while a serving of beef is around 7,000 g of CO2 emissions.
