{"id":283012,"date":"2024-09-30T09:30:49","date_gmt":"2024-09-30T08:30:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/veganuary-2024-six-month-survey\/"},"modified":"2025-12-17T21:12:33","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T21:12:33","slug":"veganuary-2024-six-month-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/en-za\/veganuary-2024-six-month-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"81% of Veganuary 2024 participants report significant diet change six months after taking part"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Nearly two-thirds see health benefits of more energy, better skin and improved mood<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>30 September 2024 \u2014<\/strong> Veganuary, the global organisation encouraging people to try vegan in January and beyond, has today released the results from its six-month follow-up survey* \u2013 the only survey that polls people who received Veganuary\u2019s tailored 31-day email support. The results show that most respondents <strong>(81%) have maintained a dramatic reduction in their animal product consumption<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nearly two-thirds (65%)<\/strong> of the Veganuary participants who have continued to eat a fully vegan diet for the past six months have experienced health improvements, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>increased energy (59%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>improved mood (57%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>better skin (54%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>desired change in body weight (48%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s what Veganuary 2024 participants revealed about themselves six months on from taking part in the challenge:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>27% are still eating a<strong> fully vegan diet<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>37% are eating at least <strong>75% less meat and other animal products than pre-Veganuary<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>17% are eating at least <strong>50% less meat and other animal products than pre-Veganuary<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>95% of those who are not fully vegan said they\u2019re<strong> likely to try a vegan diet again in the future<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants were also asked how Veganuary helped them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>70% feel <strong>more inspired in the kitchen<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>60% said Veganuary helped them to make <strong>more adventurous food choices<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>58% said it helped them to make <strong>more sustainable food choices<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>55% said it helped them to make <strong>healthier food choices<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>The <a href=\"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Veganuary-2024-6-Month-Survey.pdf\">Official Veganuary 2024 Six-Month Survey Results<\/a> can be viewed in more detail here.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commenting on these results, <strong>Veganuary\u2019s International Head of Communications<\/strong> said: <em>\u201cThese incredible results show that Veganuary is so much more than a one-month pledge and that taking part leads to lasting diet change for most people. With 81% of our 2024 participants maintaining a dramatic reduction in animal products six months on, it\u2019s clear that Veganuary is driving positive change for animals, people and the planet.\u201d\u202f<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She added: <em>\u201cThe fact that 70% of participants feel more inspired in the kitchen is no surprise, as most people discover new recipes and ingredients when eating a plant-based diet. As an added bonus, nearly two-thirds of participants who stick with a plant-based diet feel health benefits as well. There are so many reasons to take part in Veganuary!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking about the growth of tempeh consumption in the UK, <strong>Elin Roberts \u2013 Co-Founder and Co-CEO of tempeh brand Better Nature<\/strong> \u2013 said: <em>\u201cIt\u2019s brilliant that people are feeling inspired in the kitchen, and more than half have been making healthier food choices since taking part in Veganuary.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She added: <em>\u201cAt Better Nature, our mission is to get the world eating supercharged protein: all-natural, nutritious and great for the gut. We\u2019re excited to bring supercharged protein to even more people around the UK as we head into Veganuary 2025 and beyond.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Claire Lynch, Registered Dietitian and Education Lead at <a href=\"https:\/\/plantbasedhealthprofessionals.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Plant-Based Health Professionals UK<\/a>,<\/strong> also commented on the survey results: <em>&#8220;The survey results are fantastic. Decades of research show that healthy and balanced plant-based diets are one of the best choices we can make for our health, with significant benefits for reducing rates of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, fatty liver disease and certain cancers.
