Entonces, \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 el l\u00e1cteo hace mal, y qu\u00e9 podemos hacer para minimizar su impacto alimentario en el mundo?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">el metano y el cambio clim\u00e1tico<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de la crueldad animal que envuelve la industria lechera, existen consecuencias de mantener a las vacas en cautiverio. El metano es un poderoso gas que altera el clima. Reducir las emisiones de metano es fundamental para hacer frente a la degradaci\u00f3n del clima. Pero, \u00bfpor d\u00f3nde empezamos?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cerca del 27% de las emisiones del metano que se relacionan con el ser humano proceden de la ganader\u00eda, y sin culpa alguna, las vacas son, por lo m\u00e1s, las que m\u00e1s contribuyen. Ante esta problem\u00e1tica, lo primero, es que las vacas son rumiantes y su proceso digestivo genera metano. Y, segundo, son demasiadas. Las vacas son por lejos el mejor contribuidor. Hay m\u00e1s de 270 millones de vacas que se cr\u00edan por su leche, y cada eructo genera grandes cantidades de gas que alteran el clima. Al ser parte de las emisiones de metano u otro proceso que destruya el clima, se comprob\u00f3 que las 13 empresas l\u00e1cteas mayores en el mundo encontraron que tiene la misma combinaci\u00f3n de emisiones de gases invernadero que todo el Reino Unido (que es la sexta econom\u00eda mundial).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">deforestaci\u00f3n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Una gran problem\u00e1tica con la ganader\u00eda industrial se debe a que es excesiva. Los animales consumen m\u00e1s calor\u00edas de lo que se compensa con su carne, leche o huevos. Esto significa que se necesita mucho m\u00e1s territorio para cultivar alimentos para todos nosotros. En total, un 83% de toda la tierra de cultivo del mundo se utiliza para la ganader\u00eda, pero eso s\u00f3lo nos proporciona el 18% de nuestras calor\u00edas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a1Qu\u00e9 derrochador! Y mientras que el n\u00famero de la ganader\u00eda industrial contin\u00faa en ascenso, la cantidad de tierra agr\u00edcola no lo hace. En vez de vivir dentro de las propias posibilidades, tomamos la tierra que queremos de la naturaleza. Los bosques y otros h\u00e1bitats se talan, no s\u00f3lo para el pastoreo de vacas, sino que tambi\u00e9n para cultivar soya con la que se alimentan. La p\u00e9rdida de los bosques lleva a la p\u00e9rdida la vida salvaje y el desplazamiento de pueblos originarios. Los cient\u00edficos advirtieron que vivimos en la sexta extinci\u00f3n mundial, y la ganader\u00eda es un factor clave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">contaminaci\u00f3n de r\u00edos y lagos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Alrededor del mundo, las v\u00edas de aguas mueren debido a la proliferaci\u00f3n de algas. Este excesivo crecimiento de las algas bloquea la luz, lo que impide que las plantas acu\u00e1ticas crezcan y tengan ox\u00edgeno del agua, y que mata peces e insectos. Las floraciones de algas se alimentan de nutrientes como el f\u00f3sforo y el nitr\u00f3geno, que se encuentra en los desechos de animales y en los fertilizantes necesarios para impulsar la producci\u00f3n de cultivos para alimentar a todos los miles de millones de animales de granjas. Cuando estos nutrientes llegan a las v\u00edas fluviales, las consecuencias son severas. Lo mismo pasa con todos los alrededores del mundo, Estados Unidos, el Reino Unido, India, Irlanda, Nueva Zelanda y en cualquier lugar donde haya una importante industria l\u00e1ctea. Las v\u00edas fluviales mueren por causa de la ganader\u00eda lechera y otra ganader\u00eda. El periodista medioambiental George Monbiot lo llama <em>rivercide<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">zonas de oc\u00e9anos muertos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lo mismo pasa en los oc\u00e9anos, donde las proliferaciones de algas absorben tanto ox\u00edgeno del agua que las especies marinas deben huir o morir. Las zonas muertas se duplicaron cada d\u00e9cada desde 1960 y, en el 2008 hab\u00eda 400 zonas muertas conocidas. Una vez m\u00e1s, la contaminaci\u00f3n por los nutrientes, que proceden de los desechos de los animales y de los seres humanos, en espec\u00edfico, son responsables de esto. Si no detenemos esta tendencia devastadora, es inevitable que se produzcan nuevas extensiones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00bfCU\u00c1L ES LA SOLUCI\u00d3N?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Es muy sencillo (y sabroso): no consumir l\u00e1cteos. Podemos hacer peque\u00f1os cambios en nuestra dieta que tendr\u00e1n un impacto significativo en el mundo. <strong>Los productos l\u00e1cteos producen tres veces m\u00e1s emisiones como la leche de soya<\/strong>. Es m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil ver por qu\u00e9 un simple cambio puede tener un impacto masivo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Y la leche vegetal no siempre se har\u00e1 de soya. Hay muchas variedades disponibles, como la leche de avena, almendra, nueces de anacardo, avellana, c\u00e1\u00f1amo, arroz y de coco, que pueden utilizarse en el t\u00e9 y el caf\u00e9, cereales, batidos, reposter\u00edas o simplemente solas.
