Vegan food is boring, said no one who has ever tried these three – or the thousands more – delicious recipes that we share on our site.
Becoming vegan opens up a wealth of new ideas, cuisines and recipes to try, and many new vegans find their culinary horizons expand significantly. But still, vegans like everyone else, can get stuck in a food rut, cycling the same seven meals on repeat, week in, week out. It’s a trap we all fall into at some point.
Now, there is nothing wrong with a tasty spag bol or a mid-week pizza but isn’t it great once in a while to try something really new, something perhaps we have never even heard of before? And so, we are excited to share with you three authentic flavour-packed dishes from around the world.
This spicy and warming dish will set your taste buds ZINGING. It’s super simple to make, and is perfect served with other salads, as a lunchbox item or you could serve it warm alongside anything you like!
Our South American dish is the Brazilian national favourite Feijoada. This nutrient-rich dish of black beans is flavoured with smoked paprika and cumin, and the zesty orange gives it a delicious freshness. Traditionally it contains meat but with these flavours, it certainly doesn’t need it to be filling, hearty and rather moreish.
And finally, our wild card, is the Japanese and Taiwanese favourite shabu shabu. It’s a wild card because, ideally, you would bring a portable stove (maybe a camping stove?) to the table and cook your meal there! You can cook up any number of variations, making it different each time and it really is the most fun – and tasty – communal meal. We recommend giving it a try.
There are many more punchy flavours to be found in our online recipe library, so check them out and let us know your favourites!
