My name is Alisa, and around 5 months ago I had a wild epiphany during my times of haphazard junk eating phase. I was alone at home when I started doing research on the benefits of not eating meat/dairy/eggs etc and actually acknowledge what is going on with my food apart from it being on my plate in front of me.
Currently I am on my way to going vegan, however sometimes it can be a challenge due to family circumstances. Nevertheless, I have not touched meat and do not consider picking it up any time soon. I have opted with vegan meat, which is just as tasty! Ever since I stopped eating meat, I’ve stopped wanting to eat fatty foods, sweet foods and constantly crave salads and vegetarian pastas etc.
I have found so many cafes an restaurants in my city which are both vegan and vegetarian, and I have never even heard of these places! However, there are times where I do wish to have a kebab, burger or some sushi, yet being vegetarian I am still able to have all these things, just minus the meat! I never thought it would be so simple, it always seemed to me that becoming vegetarian or vegan meant you’d have to completely change your entire lifestyle.
I have also become more in touch with what goes in my body, to the point where I can visualize where my food came from and how my body reacts to it. I am studying Journalism in my first year of university next year, and with my meat free changes, I have become more active in supporting all environmental and animal organisations. I still live my day to day life, my boyfriend and parents hardly feel a change, however personally, I am so much happier, radiant and spiritual!
