I became vegan on the spot after James Aspey’s talk in Vegfest in Dublin last September. I always supported veganism, but until then I had never made the connection to go all the way. It really shocked me how I hadn’t realised earlier!
I studied nutrition and my teachers never supported a plant-based diet, I was programmed to believe it is not adequate to recommend such a diet. This past year, while studying for my Master’s, I had no idea what was the ideal diet was – since research can be so contradictory. I was lost and didn’t know what to believe anymore.
Then when I became vegan everything clicked! I discovered that a whole-food, plant-based diet is truly the best diet for our health. It doesn’t contribute to the unnecessary suffering of animals, and is even helpful for the planet!
Now I have no trouble recommending this diet to my future patients and everyone else I meet. I finally feel 100% happy with what I’m putting in my body, and feel no guilt or regrets!
