Greg Chappell is a former cricketer who captained Australia between 1975 and 1977, and then again from 1979 to his retirement in 1984.
He was one of the best all-round cricketers of his generation, excelling as a batsman, medium pace bowler and when he retired held the world record for number of catches.
He has written books about the benefits of plant-based eating including: Health and Fitness: A Repair Manual for Men where he stated:
“We are the only species of animal on earth that still consumes milk products after being weaned. To make things worse, we do not even consume our own milk products but get them from another kind of animal. Dairy milk is a perfectly balanced food for calves but for nothing else. It does contain certain nutrients, but it also contains things which do us much more harm than the nutrients do us good.”
Giving up meat and dairy products and replacing them with whole foods made him feel stronger and healthier.
He doesn’t refer to himself as a vegan, yet is clear about cutting out all animal products from his diet.
