“17 years ago, I used a raw, vegan superfood diet and lifestyle to help me heal and overcome debilitating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (also known as M.E) and Glandular Fever. I went from not being able to get out of bed because I was so ill, to running a 4hr 15min London Marathon a year later to celebrate my recovery, after implementing a raw, vegan, superfood diet and lifestyle.
“It wasn’t too long before I set up my first vegan business selling superfoods and running raw chocolate courses. I went on to enjoy two very healthy vegan pregnancies and naturally birth two incredibly healthy vegan babies. I continue to feed my children a vegan superfood diet and I’m happy to say that they have never visited a doctor for illness in either of their lives (they are currently 9yrs and 7yrs old.) I put this down to the wellness lifestyle that we live.
“After appearing in a national newspaper column as a raw, vegan food coach to the stars, I was approached by a publishing firm and asked to bring in some of my raw, vegan cakes for the big bosses to try. To my surprise, I left later that afternoon with a 10-year publishing contract! I went on to write my first hardback recipe book; Jessica’s Raw Chocolate Recipes – Superfood for the chocoholic (Leaping Hare, UK) and then Raw Chocolate Treats (Atlantic Books) came into form for the US market. Both are easy to follow hardback, full colour, vegan recipe books.
“Things got interesting when I was invited by ITV to appear as a contestant on Britain’s Best Dish, where I made one of my famous raw, vegan chocolate superfood desserts. They were fascinated to see plant mylks being used in place of cow’s milk for the first time on the program, whilst I was making a raw, vegan whipped cream.
“I soon realised that if I could invent vegan, superfood recipes for people to enjoy then I could also make vegan superfood cosmetics for people to use on their skin. So in place of toxic, chemical skincare that includes animal ingredient and is often tested on animals, I began to create raw, vegan, organic, cruelty-free, superfood skincare and later became one of the women behind the revolutionary skincare brand; Rawgaia Superfood Skincare.
“I have developed a real passion for helping people become fully empowered and live the life of their dreams. I see a vegan superfood diet being a primary part of this, because we can not fully love and respect other beings, including the animals, if we do not first love and respect ourselves. I am known as Miss Superfood on social media and I really enjoy facilitating fun, active, transformational workshops all over the world, but manly in the UK. Including transformational raw chocolate ceremonies and hugely fun superfood skincare pamper parties! I write a lot of free download material to help you on your way, like my popular ebooks; Raw for 24 – The ultimate 24hr raw food challenge. I have published other ebooks in this arena, such as Superfoods For Beauty, How to Make a Slab of Raw Chocolate, and previously Raw Baby – The ultimate weaning guide and Total Raw Food – The complete beginners Guide.
“I see that social media has played a huge part in the growth of the vegan movement over the years. So running the empowering Facebook group; Miss Superfood Goddess Tribe, where women come together, online to complete fun vegan health and wellness challenges, and to actively inspire, educate and support one another in living a more compassionate and conscious lifestyle has been a really positive experience.
“And going vegan doesn’t mean you can’t live your life to the full! Becoming a member of Vegan Runners and enjoying the social health benefits of being a runner with other vegans has been an incredibly helpful and inspiring part of my vegan journey. Just like traveling the globe with my young kids, I take them in search of the best vegan foods in the world. Often to places such as Bali, Lombok, Gili Islands, Thailand and Taiwan. But when we are not travelling around the world in search of the tastiest, ripest, tropical fruit and the most delicious, flavoursome asian curries, I live with my two boys in one of the UK’s most vegan friendly cities, down by the ocean in Brighton, East Sussex. I truly believe that Vegan is love and the future is definitely Vegan.”
