New delicious plant-based options feature in the pizzeria’s Autumn menu following the popularity of its current vegan items
It’s always fantastic to see restaurant chains adapting their menus to cater for a range of dietary requirements and there’s no shortage of exciting dining options available for hungry vegans at popular Italian and pizza restaurants across the UK. We’ve seen the introduction of authentic vegan cheeses adorning veg-based pizzas and hearty pasta dishes across the board, whilst sumptuous free-from desserts continue to tempt and indulge us. With such variety on offer, it’s never been easier to enjoy an authentic plant-based Italian meal in the UK.
Pizza Express is a serious contender in the race to pioneer great free-from food, helping vegans to eat out with confidence. The 2018 summer menu was bursting with vegan delights, and the introduction of silky vegan mozzarella topping vegetable pizzas, and a layered Blackcurrant & Limoncello Semifreddo dessert were amongst the highlights. With the turn of the season, Pizza Express will be launching three new vegan dishes onto its Autumn menu, hitting a restaurant near you very soon. The much-anticipated dish of the new launch is the Vegan Puttanesca pizza, which will be introduced onto the menu following the impressive success of Pizza Express’ previous plant-based pizza offerings. The Puttanesca will be topped with marinated jackfruit and vegan mozzarella, alongside garlic, capers, olives, chilli and fresh parsley. We’re excited to see the introduction of a vegan pizza with a meat-substitute topping – a sure indicator of the increase in demand for meat-free options by diners.
Expanding its range of gluten-free options, Pizza Express also will add a traditional Italian pasta dish to its menu with a free-from twist. Gluten-free penne pasta will be baked into a spicy passata, with roasted mixed peppers, and finished with rocket. The dish is also suitable for vegans.
Excitingly, another delightful vegan dessert option will feature on the Autumn menu, and no… it’s not a sorbet! Pizza Express is launching a vegan-friendly carrot cake, adorned with a rich and creamy frosting. A dish so wonderfully decedent, it might just make you want to skip straight to the final course!
Talking to Vegan Food and Living Magazine, Timothy Love, Senior Marketing Manager at Pizza Express, explains:
“Almost a third of all evening meals eaten in the UK are now vegetarian or vegan and over a fifth (22%) of the population is actively choosing gluten-free… We’ve led the restaurant market, developing a full range of vegan and vegetarian offerings with over 20 toppings to choose from, plus we were early to introduce gluten-free dishes. This innovation is set to continue, and we’re delighted to see such positive response to our menu.”
