Full title: Beg: A Radical New Way of Regarding Animals by Rory Freedman
Rory Freedman, author of best-selling vegan diet book, Skinny Bitch, has penned a new book, which is part autobiography, and part animal rights manifesto. It’s a humorous and, at times, hard-hitting rallying call for everyone to stand up and speak out for animals. A ‘love letter to all animals… but most of all… a call to arms to fellow animal lovers’.
The book is peppered with anecdotes about her own dogs alongside more weighty topics of pet overpopulation and euthanasia. Rory details every area of animal abuse for which humans are responsible, from feather pillows to vivisection. It culminates in a plea for readers to go vegan. Beg is lighthearted and heart wrenching, passionate without being preachy. It’s a great book to give to someone with a beloved animal, but who hasn’t made the connection between their companion and the millions of animals slaughtered and abused by the human race.
