Dark red in colour with a sweet and ripe dark cherry nose, combined with blackberry fruit and a hint of meatiness. The palate is showing dark meaty fruit with notes of spicy tannins.

Vinification: The wine was produced from grapes which were harvested at optimal ripeness. The grapes and juices fermented for about five days. After fermentation the wine pressed to separate all the wine from the grape skins. The wine completed a secondary fermentation, which adds some complexity to the wine. After this fermentation the wine was filtered and stored in either oak barrels or stainless steel tanks for further aging.
History: The Breede River Valley is well known as an area with some of the oldest vineyards in South Africa. Years ago the grapes which were cultivated in this area were mainly used to make some of the best brandies. Grapes from this area are still used for brandies. The big variance in climate, soils and the different grape cultivars made this area exceptional for good wine production. Today the Breede River Valley produces extraordinary wines for local and international consumption.
