Apesar do que nos foi ensinado, o peixe n\u00e3o \u00e9 o superalimento que \u00e9 considerado e podemos obter os mesmos nutrientes essenciais de fontes vegetais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Neste texto, consideramos as desvantagens de comer peixe e os benef\u00edcios nutricionais de alimentos vegetais alternativos, como algas marinhas e microalgas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PEIXE \u00c9 MESMO SAUD\u00c1VEL?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>O peixe \u00e9 muitas vezes comercializado como um superalimento &#8220;limpo&#8221;: \u00e9 uma \u00f3tima fonte de prote\u00edna, \u00e9 bom para o c\u00e9rebro e mant\u00e9m o cora\u00e7\u00e3o saud\u00e1vel. Ou assim nos dizem os an\u00fancios. O peixe \u00e9 realmente rico em vitamina D, B12, iodo e sel\u00eanio e pode ser uma alternativa mais saud\u00e1vel \u00e0 carne vermelha devido ao seu menor teor de gordura saturada. No entanto, existem v\u00e1rios problemas de sa\u00fade associados ao consumo de peixe, devido a <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/marine\/good-environmental-status\/descriptor-9\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">poluentes<\/a> como o metilmerc\u00fario e os bifenilos policlorados (PCBs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O merc\u00fario, um metal altamente t\u00f3xico presente na maioria dos frutos do mar, pode danificar nosso sistema nervoso central quando consumido em certas quantidades. Um <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2019\/10\/191016124557.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">estudo de 2019<\/a> alertou que, \u00e0 medida que mais gelo derrete no \u00c1rtico devido \u00e0 mudan\u00e7a clim\u00e1tica, mais merc\u00fario ser\u00e1 liberado no meio ambiente. Al\u00e9m disso, os PCBs s\u00e3o listados como \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/cancer\/cancer-causes\/general-info\/known-and-probable-human-carcinogens.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">possivelmente cancer\u00edgenos<\/a>\u201d, com <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciepub.com\/JEPHH\/abstract\/10976\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">potencial preocupante<\/a> de causar efeitos adversos \u00e0 sa\u00fade, incluindo toxicidade hep\u00e1tica, problemas do sistema imunol\u00f3gico e doen\u00e7as de pele.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Embora tenhamos certeza de que os peixes cont\u00eam apenas baixos n\u00edveis desses poluentes, \u00f3rg\u00e3os m\u00e9dicos como o <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/live-well\/eat-well\/fish-and-shellfish-nutrition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NHS<\/a> ainda sugerem que quem est\u00e1 gr\u00e1vida, amamentando ou planejando uma gravidez deve evitar muitos tipos de peixes porque eles podem causar problemas de desenvolvimento. Imagem: AdobeStock. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ent\u00e3o&#8230;qual \u00e9 a alternativa?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Para a maioria de n\u00f3s, o peixe \u00e9 mais uma op\u00e7\u00e3o do que uma necessidade e podemos obter os mesmos nutrientes importantes de fontes vegetais sem o <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcrm.org\/good-nutrition\/nutrition-information\/omega-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">alto teor de gordura e colesterol<\/a>. Na verdade, o \u00f4mega-3 nem vem dos peixes, ele vem de algas. Se os peixes pegam direto da fonte, por que n\u00e3o fazemos o mesmo?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Existem milhares de esp\u00e9cies de algas e plantas marinhas conhecidas genericamente como algas marinhas. Muitas delas s\u00e3o consumidas na \u00c1sia h\u00e1 milhares de anos. Embora possa n\u00e3o parecer apetitoso \u00e0 primeira vista, variedades de algas marinhas como Nori, Wakame, Kombu, Kelp e Spirulina s\u00e3o surpreendentemente vers\u00e1teis. Tamb\u00e9m tem baixo teor de gordura, o que a torna um alimento saud\u00e1vel para o cora\u00e7\u00e3o. Embora exista o risco de ingerir <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6551690\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">iodo em excesso<\/a> se voc\u00ea comer muitas algas marinhas, o risco do consumo m\u00e9dio \u00e9 muito baixo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al\u00e9m disso, as microalgas s\u00e3o uma \u00e1rea de crescente interesse na ind\u00fastria de alimentos. Um estudo de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5793051\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">estudo de 2017<\/a> descobriu que elas s\u00e3o uma grande fonte de \u00e1cidos graxos essenciais como EPA e DHA. Nozes, linha\u00e7a e sementes de chia s\u00e3o outras fontes <a href=\"https:\/\/veganuary.com\/where-do-vegans-get-their-omega-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">veganas de \u00f4mega-3<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No entanto, como o \u00f3mega-3 n\u00e3o est\u00e1 dispon\u00edvel em quantidades suficientes a partir de alimentos vegetais, os veganos devem tom\u00e1-lo como suplemento.
