I’ve been vegetarian on and off since I was a child (hippy parents), and even went to a vegetarian secondary school. In my mid-twenties I toyed with being an “ethical meat-eater” but it didn’t really ever sit right, so went back to being a full-time veggie about two years ago.

Then last year a vegan friend pointed out all the inconsistencies with a vegetarian life-style and lent me some books and the film “Earthlings”. I’d like to say I was instantly transformed but I wasn’t. Then Veganuary came along; I thought I’d give it a go! The first few weeks were tough as I tried to work out what to eat that wasn’t beige (chips, onions rings, etc) and beans. But then I started looking at vegan cookery blogs and trying new things, and I haven’t looked back. I feel amazing and am really glad I made the switch.
