UK Theme Park Opens First Ever Veggie/Vegan Restaurant!

This week saw the grand opening of Birmingham-based veggie/vegan company NotDogs‘ second restaurant. But unexpectedly the new location was revealed as Chessington World Of Adventures in Greater London – A nation’s first for a dedicated meat-free business inside a theme park!

Created by friend’s Katie McDermott and Jane Yates in 2014, NotDogs was initially started as a food truck business when the Birmingham-based pair struggled to find delicious vegetarian and vegan fast food at festivals around the UK.

Within their first year of trading their meat-free NotDogs, such as the Plain Jane with ketchup & mustard, and the Kickin’ Katie Nacho Dog with guacamole, cheddar, crushed nachos & jalapenos, the pair were runners-up in the Virgin Foodpreneur Competition for ‘Tastiest Startup’.

In 2016 they opened their first fully-fledged NotDogs restaurant in Birmingham’s famous Bullring shopping district, offering an expanded vegetarian menu including burgers, sides and milkshakes with the option for anything to be made vegan as well as gluten-free.

The news of a second stand-alone NotDogs restaurant opening in the popular UK theme park went quietly under the radar, with the pair tweeting on May 30th: “#NotDogsChessington is finally OPEN! Happy customers already making Plain Jane & Kickin’ Katie two excited little #NotDogs!

Chessington World Of Adventures followed up with a tweet from their official page: “Calling all vegetarians, vegans, food lovers and more, @notdogsuk is now open! Come and find your next foodie fix next to Scorpion Express.
