Since a young age I have had a deep respect and love for animals. Seeing them made me happy.
I have always wanted animals protected on all levels, and never understood why anyone would hurt them. I had thought about my eating habits and knew I should go vegan, but I thought it would be too hard to do. We have all been conditioned to think that we need meat and dairy, but for months it played on my mind. I tried to block it out, but finally my conscience could not take it anymore. I realised, through information on the internet, how easy being vegan could be.
It was watching Gary Yourofsky’s speech that finally ‘deconditioned’ me. I suddenly realised that I was part of the problem. I was hurting animals with the food I ate, the clothes I wore, and the shampoos I used. I decided I could no longer be a part of it. That is why I went vegan; it is the solution to helping animals, improving my health and well-being, and a lighter footprint on the planet.
Going vegan was the best thing I ever did. My mum has followed suit and she now advocates the vegan lifestyle as well – she’s a fantastic example of health benefits that you simply can’t ignore! I believe that together we can create a better world. What we spend our money on shapes the way we live; let’s spend our money in a way that values all life and ends the injustice towards animals. I eat delicious food now, with no bad conscience. There are so many different foods you can try! I’ve noticed a real change in my eating habits – I used to eat the same stuff over and over again, whereas now I have so much more variety. Anyone can make the change and give vegan a try.
I’m confident that you will be happy that you did.
