Join Veganuary’s team and hike 30km from the Welsh coast to the summit of Snowdon, before celebrating with a vegan meal.
How it works…
Distance: 30km (18.6 miles)
Duration: 8 – 10 hours
Total ascent: 1,361 meters (that’s even higher than Ben Nevis!
Terrain: Mix of good lowland paths to rocky mountain trails
Start: Caernarfon Castle
Finish: Royal Victoria Hotel, Llanberis
Arrive in beautiful Llanberis with its range of tourist attractions and brilliant independent vegan cafe Caffi’r FRÂN. All participants gather at 6pm for introductions and briefing.
Leave Llanberis by bus at 7.30am to travel to Caernarfon Castle. Wave goodbye to the shores of the Menai Strait as you hike along old railway tracks, through villages, and up into smaller mountains until you reach the big one! Climb Snowdon via the Ranger Path, reaching the summit by 2pm. Descend Snowdon via the Llanberis Path, arriving back in Llanberis at 6pm for a celebratory meal (completely vegan of course!)
You don’t need to have any prior experience of hiking to take part.
Veganuary encourages millions of people to eat vegan in January (and beyond) and works with thousands of businesses around the world to increase their vegan options.
Veganuary’s huge media presence and strong social media following further increases the visibility of veganism and the growing plant-based food revolution.
Veganuary is the biggest campaign dedicated to encouraging people to try plant-based eating. And it’s effective: 83% of Veganuary 2022 participants planned to make permanent diet change after completing their vegan challenge.
Industrial-scale animal farming is a leading driver of climate change, deforestation and species loss, as well as a significant cause of pollution.
It drastically increases the risk of global pandemics and antibiotic resistance and is responsible for the deaths of billions of sentient animals each year.
The current way we produce food is highly inefficient, unsustainable and won’t allow us to feed a growing global population. That is why we advocate a change towards more plant-based alternatives and, ultimately, a vegan world.
