Find out how a bustling seaside village in Pembrokeshire is embracing Veganuary with open arms!
Eating out used to be a minefield for vegans – always having to call in advance to make sure there’s something on the menu they can eat. Those days are fast becoming history, but it’s still not the case that you can saunter into any food outlet and be sure there’s something vegan on offer – let alone a choice! That’s all changing in a coastal village in Pembrokeshire where one vegan and a group of enthusiastic business owners are welcoming anyone who’s taking part in Veganuary by offering vegan food on their standard or special menus.
Saundersfoot is a bustling seaside village known for its family-focused tourist industry. It is home to many award-winning places to eat and to stay, many of which already offer vegan food on their menus. And, for the whole of January the village is making it easy for anyone dipping their toe into a vegan lifestyle through to fully fledged vegans, to enjoy some fabulous vegan fare.
“From a vegan point of view, it’s great to just be able to drop in to somewhere for lunch or a coffee and be sure to find something yummy to eat” says Sarah Whiddett who is leading this initiative “and it’s also a fabulous opportunity for business owners to widen their appeal and welcome vegan visitors to our lovely village”.
“Of course, menus will still retain their usual selection of meals” says Sarah “so non-vegans are also welcome. This is simply offering an easy, relaxing opportunity for everyone to enjoy what we have to offer.”
