German chocolate producer Vego has launched a Nutella-style vegan chocolate spread in the UK
The makers of the popular Vego, a creamy ‘milk’ chocolate bar made with whole hazelnuts and Italian hazelnut paste, have branched out to create a spread using the same ingredients as the chocolate bars. It’s available for £3.69 from TheVeganKind’s online vegan supermarket and is also available at other outlets, too.
The spread is sold in a glass jar with a plastic lid very similar in appearance to the packaging of Nutella, and looks to be a pretty close replica of the nation’s favourite (non-vegan) chocolate spread. It’s made from raw cane sugar, hazelnuts, organic sunflower oil, organic cocoa and organic vanilla extract, and contains crunchy hazelnut pieces. Like the chocolate bar, the spread is certified Fairtrade and palm oil-free.
TheVeganKind team expressed their excitement at being the first to launch this tasty spread in the UK on their website:
“We are so excited to launch Vego’s brand new Hazelnut Chocolate Spread this month!
You lovely bunch will be some of the very first people in the UK to try this amazing new product!
And once you have finished your amazing chocolate spread, it comes inside a fabulous re-useable drinking glass, yay!”
The all-vegan online retailer also offer monthly subscription boxes (a Lifestyle box, containing a mix of vegan snacks and products, and a Beauty Box made up of vegan skincare, cosmetics and beauty products). The boxes start at £8 a month plus postage and packaging.
The new Vego spread is also available in Australia, and is distributed by The Cruelty Free Shop, which has branches in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra as well as an online store.
