1 can of black beans (or pinto/kidney/cannellini)
1/4 C cooked grain (rice or quinoa)
1/3 C oats
1 Tbsp mustard
2 Tbsp ketchup
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
If you want to get fancy add:
1/2 C chopped greens (kale, chard, spinach)
1/2 C corn kernels
1/4 C diced bell pepper (green, red, yellow or orange)
a couple drops liquid smoke
1 Tbsp BBQ sauce
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Drain can of beans and mash them in a medium size bowl.
Add the rest of the ingredients to the bowl. Mix well.
Divide into 4 patties and bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 7 minutes.
Flip burgers and cook another 7 minutes.
Place those patties between burger buns–or slices of bread, or in a pita–or crumble them into a wrap. Add whatever burger-type fixings’ you like (lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles, mustard, ketchup) for a delicious meal.
