Veganuary continues to broaden its reach in 2025 with more municipalities and new employers in media, education, solar, and manufacturing taking part in the 31-day plant-based workplace challenge.
(Washington, DC – January 13th, 2025) – Veganuary – the non-profit organization encouraging millions to celebrate and explore plant-based eating during January and beyond – is working with US employers across all kinds of sectors, in efforts to be more sustainable, healthier, and more inclusive by encouraging their employees to participate in the 31-day vegan challenge.
With a diverse range of companies participating in the challenge from across the food, engineering, finance, software, service, and government sectors, Veganuary continues to broaden its reach even further in 2025 with new employers in media, manufacturing, and education.
More prominent US companies and institutions participating in Veganuary are EY (Ernst & Young), City of San Antonio, LUSH, and more. Globally, hundreds of employers are taking part this January. By taking on the Veganuary Workplace Challenge, these employers are taking positive steps towards sustainability and CSR goals, creating a fun challenge for employees to participate in, and promoting health and morale amongst staff, while providing more plant-based options in the workplace in January.
“Veganuary gives people the power to make the world a little kinder, greener and healthier this new year. So it’s great to see so many employers encouraging and supporting their employees in eating more plant-based this January as part of Veganuary’s Workplace Challenge. It’s a fun way to unite the team in a shared experience”, says Veganuary’s US Director, Sandra Hungate.
As organizations are increasingly prioritizing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices and striving to lower their carbon emissions, the Veganuary workplace challenge offers a fun way to make a positive impact on everyone involved. In their own words, here are some of the reasons these businesses and institutions are embracing vegan eating this January:
EY
Amy Brachio, Global Vice Chair Sustainability
“We’re excited to be on board with Veganuary again. What a fantastic way to empower EY people to consider a plant-based diet and help in building a better, and more sustainable, working world. The transition to net zero is about big and small changes; considering meat and dairy free is one of the ways our individual choices can make a difference. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
City of San Antonio, TX
Tamarra Callahan, Management Analyst, Office of Sustainability
“The City of San Antonio Office of Sustainability and partnering departments are celebrating Veganuary to share the environmental and health benefits of plant-based eating with our employees. We anticipate exceeding our 2024 Workplace Challenge participation and are excited about the amount of interest our staff has expressed thus far. We continue to share information about local, vegan-friendly restaurants and other Veganuary-hosted opportunities with our 13,000+ City employees. The ongoing produce market box program and various department-hosted potluck events will surely encourage plant-based eating all year long! The Veganuary Workplace Challenge is an engaging, insightful, thought-provoking experience suitable for anyone interested in emissions reduction, resource conservation, and personal wellness. I am excited about the City’s ongoing participation in the challenge.”
Linkgraph
Sophia Deluz, Director of Agency Success
“One of our core values at Linkgraph is kindness, and there’s no better way to exemplify that than to take on the yearly Veganuary challenge with our team. Kindness to animals, the environment and laborers are just a few of the benefits of eating plant based, and our team is always excited to take the Veganuary challenge home with them each year. It’s incredibly easy to get started with the Veganuary guide and it brings our team closer together knowing that we are doing our part to positively impact the environment and all living things. We are committed to Veganuary and will be donating $50 to the cause for every participant at our company this year! “
Foothold
Joanne Farquharso, CEO
“On behalf of Foothold America in the US, UK, and France, I am delighted our team is participating in Veganuary. In 2023, we developed a company cookbook to acknowledge the various cultures in our workforce. It was then we learned some or our team were eating plant based. To promote our corporate value of social responsibility, we are participating as a company in 2025. Foothold America colleagues are in various stages of considering or eating a plant-based diet. We’ve decided to share recipes and progress on our intranet.”
KSPS PBS public television
Skyler J. Reep, Director of Development
“At KSPS PBS public television, the Veganuary Workplace Challenge aligns with our values of education, civic health, and sustainability—values that define public broadcasting. Just as we empower our viewers with knowledge to make informed decisions, this challenge encourages us to make thoughtful, compassionate choices that improve personal wellness, environmental sustainability, and animal welfare. By embracing plant-based eating, we are living our mission to enrich lives and build stronger communities—one meal and one informed decision at a time.”
LUSH
Andrew Butler, Campaigns Manager
“We’re on a mission to make the world lusher than we found it, and helping people to go vegan can make a big contribution to that. We know that for animals, people and the planet, plant based food is better on every measurable metric, which is why we take part in Veganuary’s workplace challenge. And of course we have the opportunity to practice compassion towards animals every day, beyond food, and include cruelty-free cosmetics, animal free clothing and more. Veganuary has many amazing resources to make the transition to a cruelty free life easy and enjoyable.”
Higher Taste
Rhonda Wrobel, Co-Owner / Founder
“Participating in the Veganuary Workplace Challenge is an ideal opportunity for Higher Taste and its employees to learn about and promote the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle in a fun and informative way. So many inspiring activities and everyone loves our delicious Veganuary team lunches!”

Veganuary is a great way for us to live out our values and get our team and customers excited about plant-based living in a way that’s fun, easy and accessible to all. We’re excited to join millions of people across the world who are accepting this challenge and encourage others who have been curious about eating plant-based, but haven’t tried it yet, to join to see what it’s all about.”
Clever Carbon
Michelle Li, Founder and CEO
“Since forming in 2020, Clever Carbon has participated in the Veganuary Workplace Challenge every year, and this year is no different. When it comes to carbon emissions, agriculture and food are among the most polluting industries, making up almost 25% of global emissions – more carbon intense than steel and cement manufacturing combined. Bringing joy, engagement, and sometimes fun competition to plant-based eating is a win-win for any corporation that has climate and ESG initiatives.”
Erie County, PA Public Library
Jessica Spitulski, Executive Director
“As a community cornerstone for education and growth, the Erie County Public Library is thrilled to participate in the Veganuary Workplace Challenge. This initiative aligns perfectly with our dedication to fostering all forms of literacy, including health literacy. At our core, we are a passionate and supportive team that embraces challenges together. As a vegetarian and Veganuary veteran, I am personally excited to see how this experience will not only help us explore healthier habits but also deepen our shared sense of community and inspire meaningful conversations with our patrons.”
