Peas Jeera (Cumin) Rice

Simple and flavourful rice to pair with dals, and the peas add an extra dose of protein.

Ingredients

1 cup basmati rice, soaked for 30 minutes
1 cup peas
1 cup onions, long sliced
1 tsp garlic paste
4-5 cashews
4 green chilies, long sliced
5 to 6 curry leaves
3 tsp cumin seeds
½ tsp garam masala
1 tbsp cooking oil

Simple and flavourful rice to pair with dals, and the peas add an extra dose of protein.

Method

1. Heat oil in a deep pan. Add cumin seeds, cashews, curry leaves, green chilies, onions, garlic paste and garam masala.
2. Cook well and add peas, salt, soaked basmati rice, and 2 cups water.
3. Cook on medium heat for 10-12 minutes, while keeping the pan covered.
4. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve with dal makhani.
