Ingredients

  • 500 gm button mushrooms, halved
  • 1 potato, cubed
  • 1 tbsp mustard oil
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste

For mustard Paste:

  • 2 tbsp black mustard seeds
  • 4 green chillies
  • 5 pods of garlic
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp coriander Seeds
  • Fresh coriander for garnishing

Method

  • Grind all ingredients under ‘mustard paste’ into a smooth consistency. Add a little water if necessary
  • Heat the oil in a pan and fry the potatoes. Set aside
  • To the same pan, add tomatoes, a pinch of salt and saute for 4-5 minutes.
  • Add mushrooms and saute till half done
  • Add fried potatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and fry for 3 more minutes. Reduce heat to medium and add the mustard paste
  • Fry for 2 minutes, add salt and 50ml water
  • Let it boil and continue to cook for 4-5 minutes
  • Transfer to a plate and garnish with coriander leaves
  • Serve with rice.
