I am 38 years old and decided in the fall to change to a vegetarian lifestyle after making the connection between what I was eating, and its impact on the animals I love and the environment.
The first month I was tired most of the time. The more I read, the more I became aware of what my body needed. Through my reading, I also learned the horrors of the dairy industry and decided to cut that out immediately.
Suddenly I started to feel better then I ever had in my life! My skin looks better each day, I was even carded at the liquor store 🙂 I have even stopped drinking coffee – no need or desire anymore with all my new found energy.
As the cook for my family, I told them I would still cook meat for them, but that they had to share some of my meals. They thought that my food would be terrible, tofu has a horrible reputation! I’m happy to say I have cut their weekly meat intake by half, they are really enjoying ‘my food,’ they are off milk entirely and working on dairy as well.
I feel so much healthier now, and great that I am doing what I can to promote animal rights and reduce my footprint on our earth!!
My hope is one day soon my children will follow suit (I think they will).
