I grew up in the Greater Boston area of Massachusetts, USA. I was raised with pride in my Italian heritage which also included eating meat. (I was the kid who brought prosciutto and salami sandwiches to school!) It was not until the age of 28 that I started to really become ME.
I have always really loved animals as well as looking after the environment. On one of my first dates with my husband he actually said to me: ‘I am surprised you eat meat since you love animals so much.’ It didn’t quite dawn on me yet because I was operating only partially self-aware. But in the last three years I have gone from an omnivore who ENJOYED cooking sirloin steak on the weekends to a vegan.
Being vegan for me has not only made me feel healthy and look physically great, but spiritually I feel so much more satisfaction with what I am eating. No animal has to live in horrible conditions and die before their natural life expectancy for me to eat. Through my CHOICES I am also personally transformed: making changes as to how I treat myself, others, handle stress, and what is important.
I am new to the community and am learning Every. Single. Day. But because I was open to change I am now starting to feel like Sara. All this change takes contemplation and reflection and time which is what my blog is all about!
Always, Stop and Think.
