Motherland’s Diane Morgan & singer Peter Andre do Veganuary this January

ITV chef Juliet Sear and Corrie’s Alexandra Mardell also take on the New Year’s challenge

28th December 2022 – People sign up for Veganuary – the global pledge to try vegan for January and beyond – for many different reasons, and this year’s celebrity participants are no different. Diane Morgan, star of Motherland, Afterlife and Mandy, has signed up as part of her commitment to ending animal suffering; singer and TV personality Peter Andre is taking part to help reduce his impact on the planet; ITV chef and baker Juliet Sear is looking to improve her diet; while Alexandra Mardell, aka Corrie’s Emma Brooker, is doing Veganuary to try different recipes and new foods.

Actor Diane, who has just appeared on our screens in the Motherland Christmas Special – though possibly best-known for her role as Philomena Cunk – says: “I’ve just signed up to do Veganuary. I’d be fully vegan if I could only stop adding cheese to everything! Please help me!! I really love animals and want to help end their suffering.”

Peter, who will be cooking up vegan delights this Veganuary with a lucky competition winner in collaboration with Beyond Meat, says: “I’m excited to be taking part in Veganuary and launching the #FirstStepBeyond competition with Beyond Meat to help others take the first step to eat more plant-based foods. It is incredibly easy to live a flexitarian lifestyle, something which I’m a huge believer in.”

Juliet, professional baker, author and ITV cookery expert, is urging others to take part in Veganuary with her. She says: “I’m looking for ways to improve my diet and do my bit for the environment, so I’ve signed up for Veganuary!! I’m really excited to try out some new recipes and chow down on some healthy plant-based feasts!! I’d love you to join me!”

Alexandra, fresh from her appearance on Strictly’s Christmas Special, says: “This is our third year doing Veganuary and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s a nice fresh start to the year trying different recipes and new foods. We still have a few vegan alternatives in our regular diet throughout the year as well since trying it out. Hoping we can find some more this year!”
